Halas 71

Halas 71 is one of the most remarkable historic yachts still operating today in Turkey, originally launched in 1914 in Glasgow by the Fairfield Shipbuilding Company. Built for Istanbul’s Bosphorus ferry system, the vessel was later requisitioned during World War I by the British Admiralty and served under the name Waterwic in the Eastern Mediterranean. After the war, she returned to Turkey in 1923 and was renamed Halas, meaning “Salvation,” becoming an important part of daily life on the Bosphorus for decades as a passenger ferry connecting Europe and Asia.

After nearly a century of service, Halas 71 was saved from demolition in the 1980s and carefully transformed into a luxury yacht through extensive restorations that preserved her original character while adding modern comfort and safety systems. Today, she accommodates up to 24 guests in 12 elegant cabins, offering a rare combination of heritage and refined hospitality. Operating exclusively in Turkish waters, Halas 71 provides private charters along the Bosphorus in Istanbul as well as extended cruises along the Aegean coast between Bodrum and Göcek.
